Huitt-Zollars is pleased to welcome Chester Nielsen, AIA, as a Vice President of Interior Architecture in our Houston Downtown office. In this role, Chester will lead the firm’s interior design efforts, driving innovative solutions for clients across various industries.
Chester brings extensive experience, having worked with globally renowned architecture firms such as Frank Gehry, Richard Meier, Martha Schwartz, and Clive Wilkinson. His professional journey includes the design and delivery of numerous award-winning projects. His impressive portfolio includes the Shirly Ryan AbilityLab in Chicago, recognized as the AIA’s Top Interior of the Year, and the Barbarian Group in New York, awarded Best Office of the Year at the World Architecture Festival. He has also led transformative workplace projects for high-profile clients like Stanford University, GLG, Microsoft, and Valve. Prior to joining Huitt-Zollars, Chester led his private firm, delivering exceptional projects in the Bay Area, including the Stanford HUB flex office workplace and a mobile workplace warehouse renovation. His experience and design leadership make him a valuable addition to our firm, helping to expand our interiors practice across Houston and beyond.
Chester holds a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Rice University, with additional studies at Rice School of Architecture in Paris. He is a licensed architect in California and a member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA). Throughout his career, he has also shared his expertise by speaking and presenting at conferences worldwide.
