Memorial Park at the Brazos River

The City of Sugar Land retained Huitt-Zollars to design Sugar Land Memorial Park, the initial plan for the development of the Brazos River Park, a 420-acre regional park along the Brazos River. Huitt-Zollars designed a 25-acre lake with islands, 2.5 miles of walking/jogging trails, a picnic pavilion, restroom building, parking areas, canoe launch, playground, and open space for sports activities. Through an agreement with the US 59 construction contractor, the lake was dug at no cost, saving the City nearly $5 million dollars. The City also retained Huitt-Zollars to design a new dog park, Pawm Springs.
