Huitt-Zollars provided surveying, traffic engineering, roadway, utility, and bridge design, bidding and construction phase services for 1.75 miles of the new University Boulevard South from Commonwealth Boulevard through Brazos Landing to the City of Sugar Land’s city limits. Huitt-Zollars prepared the preliminary and design documents (plans, specifications and estimate) for the construction of the new four-lane arterial with raised medians, curb and gutter with sidewalks on both sides. Scope of work included three significant bridges. The bridges over Ditch “H” are 710 feet, seven-span, horizontal-curved on a super elevated structure constructed of prestressed concrete beams, ornamental railing, sidewalks, and lighting. The bridges over the Oxbow and Levees are 380 feet, three-span, constructed of prestressed concrete beams, ornamental railing, sidewalks, and lighting. The bridges over the Outfall Channel and Levees are 625 feet, five-span, constructed of prestressed concrete beams, ornamental railing, sidewalks, and lighting.
