Huitt-Zollars was retained to perform civil engineering services by Stantec for the new Broomfield Maintenance Facility in Broomfield, Colorado. The brand-new, 4-building facility sits on 16 acres and provides service and maintenance for all city and county vehicles, including city-owned construction vehicles. This facility consolidates the Public Works Department into a single location for administration, maintenance center, and equipment laydown areas. There is an administration and storage building, an 11-bay fleet maintenance center with a dedicated automated vehicle wash bay for cars and oversized road maintenance vehicles, a 10-bay heated storage building, and a salt storage building with aggregate storage bins. The site also includes a diesel and gasoline pump island for fleet vehicles and surface parking for maintenance vehicles. Huitt-Zollars worked within the program requirements to ensure the site and public entrances could handle fleet vehicles, from passenger vehicles to semi-trucks and trailers.
