The Texas A&M University Intergenerational Learning Center (ILC) is a multi-phase educational, housing, and research project being developed through a public-private partnership between the Texas A&M University System and Stonehenge Holdings and is located on-campus adjacent to a large cluster of student housing. The ILC will also function as a research branch of the Colleges of Medicine, Engineering, and Education creating a collaborative environment between an early childhood development center and senior living. When completed, the development will include Early Childhood Development, Seniors Housing with Independent Living, Assisted Living, and Memory Care, and a TAMU Health Science Center Clinic serving the general student population and ILC residents.
The CLC provides structured early childhood development through a preschool and daycare program. The two-story, 26,000 SF building includes the 15,000 SF learning center on the first floor serving up to 235 children. Texas A&M’s College of Education and Human Development occupies 11,000 SF on the second floor, allowing undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to learn and participate in the care and education of young people as part of a new teacher certification for early childhood through Grade 3 specialists. The program will integrate intergenerational learning upon the completion of the senior living phase which will be constructed adjacent to the CLC.
