As a keynote project in the City’s capital improvement program, the Tower Road Widening project will improve Tower Road from the eastbound ramp intersection (south side) of the Peña Blvd and Tower Rd interchange to 103rd Ave. The project will widen the existing two-lane facility to four lanes divided with a raised landscaped median. In addition to roadway reconstruction and widening, other improvements include new drainage & water quality facilities, traffic signals, a major drainage structure at 2nd Creek, sanitary sewer, potable water, landscaping and irrigation, street lighting, and numerous relocations of existing utilities. The City will need to acquire a significant amount of right of way from the adjacent properties, and extensive stakeholder coordination will be required. The project is just less than four miles and will cost approximately $25 million to construct.
