Downtown Light Rail Transit (LRT) Corridor

Huitt-Zollars was selected to provide final civil/structural and architectural design and post-design construction services as part of a design-build team. The project extends approximately 1.15 miles from US-59 on the east to IH-45 on the west, and includes six LRT station platforms. Huitt-Zollars’ responsibilities included supervision of over 15 subconsultants and to complete the design of rail, roadway reconstruction, storm drain modeling and design, sidewalks, illumination, walls, drainage impact studies, design of one new bridge, design of three additional bridge reconstructions and permitting. Huitt-Zollars also designed two track connections to the Main Street line as well as two transfer stations on Main Street.
