Huitt-Zollars is excited to announce the addition of Lisa Nelson, P.E. to our Urban Development team as a Vice President in the Phoenix office. In this role, Lisa will be responsible for leading business initiatives and driving the growth of our Urban Development Practice in Arizona. She brings 25 years of experience in civil design, project management, and business development.
In her most recent role as a Senior Project Manager at a local civil engineering firm, Lisa oversaw project teams and led clients through entitlements, due diligence, planning, and design phases for diverse projects including build-to-rent, multi-family, commercial, and industrial developments. She helps clients achieve their goals to build successful developments/projects by cultivating relationships with city staff and technical partners. Incorporating value engineering into designs is a standard practice for her, which begins with due diligence research for site feasibility and planning. Lisa served on the agency side as Interim County Engineer at Coconino County Public Works from 2013 to 2015. She played a crucial role in the Flood Control District Capital Improvement Plan development as well as Capital Improvement Plan project scoping and cost estimating for the use of Highway User Revenue Fund (HURF). She also designed and managed roadside drainage and pavement preservation projects. Additionally, Lisa has served as Project Manager and Senior Civil Engineer for firms in the Phoenix Metro area working on a variety of projects including land development, mining, and public infrastructure.
Lisa earned her Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Iowa. She is a registered Professional Engineer in the State of Arizona.
