US 191, Segment IV

US 191, between I-10 and Safford, is a typical two-lane rural arterial. Huitt-Zollars was retained to develop construction documents for Segments III and IV for a total of six miles. The existing roadway winds through rolling terrain with very little opportunities for passing slower trucks and RVs. Huitt-Zollars designed horizontal and vertical alignments, drainage structures, erosion control plans, cut and fill plans, and mass haul diagrams. ADOT's overall vision for the corridor is to provide two new northbound lanes offset to the east of the existing roadway which will then be converted to southbound traffic only.
